Not much to say today....we are so tired. Brody had a bad day. I praise God that Brody had such a wonderful nurse (Erin)to take care of him today with all of these changes. He is off of the nasal cannula and back on the CPAP mask. He is getting another transfusion while I write and will get yet another in the middle of the night. His oxygen level is consistently higher than it has been in weeks. With the CPAP his reflux is worse but they had to do it because his spells were so frequent and bad this morning. His central line in back and he has already had another round of antibiotics in case his bad spells are due to an infection (again). We won't know about the infection for 24-48 hours because it takes time for the cultured blood to grow. If I sound disappointed, I am. Today has set us back 10-14 days. That's 10-14 days longer before he comes home. That's 10-14 days longer before we see how he sucks-swallows-and-breath, a big step in the life of a preemie. The high settings of oxygen and the higher assisted breathing (although is keeping him alive) comes with greater risk of consequence. Like detached retina and Chronic Lung Disease. His seasoned nurse tonight, Michelle (who we have had before and love), says if she had to bet, he will be a new baby by morning after he gets this blood. I pray she is right. Therefore, I sign-off disappointed, last night while his daddy was holding him, Brody sucked on his pacifier, digested food through his feeding tube, and breathed. I was so hopeful that we would be attempting bottle feeding by the end of the week. The NICU Roller Coaster - whattaride!

Dear Deedee and Brent, Its Aunt Naomi again. I am so sorry that you had a rough day with Brody's set back. I know it is a dissappointment, but remember that God will not allow us to be tested beyond what we can bear. I am so glad that the day before the set back was a good day. Hang on to that and remember that Brody's blanket symbolizes that he is covered in prayer. He really is!! Everyone who knows about him is praying and that is POWERFUL!!! How many people do you know who can inspire others to pray? Brody is doing that and he isn't even supposed to be born yet! No matter what happens next, God has it covered. I Love you all, Aunt Naomi
I agree with Aunt Naomi---God has it covered. I know that doesn't change the level of disappointment. But it does provide some comfort to know that he is in good hands. Joe and I are both very concerned about Brody and want you to know we are praying for all of you each day. I am sorry that yesterday was such a rough day and am hopeful that you will see a big difference in him today.
Love ya
DeeDee
DeeDee, Brent and Brody,
We are all sending you our love and concern from Hungary. Eszter was so sweet yesterday as I was putting her down for a nap. She got into bed and she told me that she needed to pray. Then she said a short sweet prayer for Brody on her own. Then again today at dinner she said a short prayer in Hungarian for Brody. Such a young pure faith just at times can move you to tears. We are all praying for comfort for you and a better day for Brody today.
Love,
Tibor, Billie and
Eszter Rose
I am so sorry for your down day...thank you for having the strength to share the joy-days and the sad-days. He is being prayed for and loved by more people than you will ever be able to count, that is amazing! And his little cheeks are so cute :)
If you want to pray go to the library and talk to John, talk to John.....
Waship...
I love you Deedee
